Grandma Got Molested At The Airport

As humorous as some may find the above video, it is prophetic of how the TSA chose to handle American travellers during the Christmas season. Who should be the focus of the TSA’s security efforts? A ape victim with a pacemaker travelling to visit friends for the holidays? Or those who fit the profile of the radical terrorists who desire to destroy the “Great Satan?” As Jim Bergamo of KVUE News in Austin, TX reports,

Early Wednesday morning, a computer glitch shut down a security checkpoint for a couple of hours at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  The line snaked out the door as many travelers waited for more than an hour and some missed their flights.  One of the first people in line after that shutdown never made it through. She was arrested and banned from the airport.

Claire Hirschkind, 56, who says she is a rape victim and who has a pacemaker-type device implanted in her chest, says her constitutional rights were violated.  She says she never broke any laws.  But the Transportation Security Administration disagrees.

Hirschkind was hoping to spend Christmas with friends in California, but she never made it past the security checkpoint.

“I can’t go through because I have the equivalent of a pacemaker in me,” she said.

Hirschkind said because of the device in her body, she was led to a female TSA employee and three Austin police officers.  She says she was told she was going to be patted down.

“I turned to the police officer and said, ‘I have given no due cause to give up my constitutional rights.  You can wand me,'” and they said, ‘No, you have to do this,'” she said.

Hirschkind agreed to the pat down, but on one condition.

“I told them, ‘No, I’m not going to have my breasts felt,’ and she said, ‘Yes, you are,'” said Hirschkind.

When Hirschkind refused, she says that “the police actually pushed me to the floor, (and) handcuffed me.  I was crying by then.  They drug me 25 yards across the floor in front of the whole security.”

The TSA needs to wake up and admit that profiling is the only way to protect the American people without violating their civil liberties and constitutional rights, unless their actions conform to their intent and political purpose.

Unsheath Your Sword: Adam Gadahn Calls For Attacks On America (Video)

In a 25-minute video titled “A Call to Arms” posted to militant Islamic Web sites on Sunday, Al Qaeda’s American-born spokesman Adam Gadahn called on Muslims serving in the U.S. armed forces to emulate Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan charged with killing 13 people in Fort Hood,

“Brother Nidal is the ideal role-model for every repentant Muslim in the armies of the unbelievers and apostate regimes.”

Dressed in white robes and turban, Gadahn, known as Azzam al-Amriki, called for attacks on what he described as “high-value targets.”

“You shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that military bases are the only high-value targets in America and the West. On the contrary, we should look for targets which epitomize western decadence, depravity and atheism.

“It is rapidly becoming clear that this already hot global battle is about to get even hotter. This is a war which knows no international borders and knows no single battleground. And that is why I am calling on every honest and vigilent Muslim, unsheath your sharpened sword and rush to take your rightful place among defiant champions of Islam.”

Newsweek Declares The War On Terror Is Over!

Have you heard? The War on Terror is over! In one of the most asinine statements by a “post-American” progressive, Newsweek editor and CNN commentator Fareed Zakaria declares Islamist extremism is defeated. After telling Americans last year to “learn to live with radical Islam,” Zakaria proclaims

“The enemy is not vast; the swamp is being drained. Al Qaeda has already lost in the realm of ideology. What remains is the battle to defeat it in the nooks, crannies, and crevices of the real world.”

“The focus of our concern now is not a broad political movement but a handful of fanatics scattered across the globe.”

Indeed the changing composition of Islamic extremism does present  individuals not clearly affiliated with any established group, most notably Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Christmas day bomber. But despite a few independent radicals, Zakaria’s feint of immateriality belies the inherent risks of the continued existence of groups with extreme and violent ideology.

In his article subtitled, How moderate Muslim leaders waged war on extremists – and won, Zakaria reduces the War on Terror to “good foreign policy” in need of “politics, diplomacy, and development” exemplifying the September 10th mentality that  viewed terrorism strictly as an international and foreign policy issue. Post 9/11, we recognize that terrorism is more than a foreign policy issue, it’s a foreign and domestic security threat. Since 9/11, there have been 14,942 deadly Islamist attacks worldwide (2001-2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.) Zakaria’s suggestion that a change in tone, attitude, and openness will eliminate any remaining Islamist terrorists ignores the reality that if they are willing to kill their own children by letting them detonate suicide bombs, then they will also be willing to kill our children for their misguided cause. In the words of IPT News

“For such a highly influential commentator to foster this sense of complacency is irresponsible and negligent.”

The fact that radical Islamists do send their children to blow themselves up in the name of Islam is so at odds with the following statement Zakaria makes that one has to wonder why he would assert,

The most important moderates to denounce militants have been the families of radicals. In the case of both the five young American Muslims from Virginia arrested in Pakistan last year and Christmas bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, parents were the ones to report their worries about their own children to the U.S. government.”

Unless it’s part of a calculated distraction, someone of Fareed Zakaria’s  intelligence should be loath to cite two examples of parents turning in their children to authorities as proof of moderate Muslims defeating Islamist extremists. The only Islamic states he cites proving his thesis are Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Iraq, each hotbeds of radical extremists who despite overt declarations of opposition to extremism may covertly be provisioning weapons, financing, or logistical support to them. But Zakaria’s article is not written to support his thesis, but rather his political ideology. And here’s where we find the money quote. Zakaria stealthily injects the true reason we believe Islamist jihadism is widespread,

“Republicans have clearly decided that fanning the public’s fears of rampant jihadism continues to be a winning strategy.”

How Republicans manage to be introduced into an article focused on the defeat of radical Islamists by moderate Muslims is almost inconceivable. But Zakaria’s point was never to support his thesis, but to insinuate that radical jihadism only exists out of fear and that fear is spread by Republicans. In Zakaria’s ideology, 19 terrorists crashing airplanes into the World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA in no way demonstrates radical Islamist extremism. But his obtuse logic is defied by the facts, and the War on Terror goes on.

Obama Politicizes Christmas Day Terror Attack, Blacklists Fox News

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano couldn't make it to Fox News?

Taking his vendetta with Fox News to a new low, President Obama sent an administration spokesperson to appear on every network but Fox to discuss the Northwest Airlines flight 253 terror attack.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs appeared on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, NBC’s Meet the Press and CBS’ Face the Nation. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appeared on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, NBC’s Meet the Press, and CNN’s State of the Nation.

Communicating to the American people the facts and status of an attempted terror attack should be of paramount importance to a President plunging in the polls, but Obama appears more obsessed with ostracizing Fox News than keeping the American people informed of the war on terror.
